Business incubator dates back to 1959 but its true potential was realized only in the ‘80s when Technology Business was promoted in USA. Developing countries were quick to grab the concept and provided the incubation environment to nurture innovative ideas by mentoring and providing infrastructure and resources and translating them into successful technology business.
Shriram Institute for Industrial Research, Delhi with its mandated support to the Indian Industry since 1950, has been amongst the front runners in the area by establishing Technology Business Incubation (TBI) centre in its premises under the sponsorship of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The SRI-TBI provides services in the fields of plastics, rubbers, specialty chemicals and waste management by translating innovative ideas into technologies and incubating entrepreneurs for converting technologies into successful business ventures.
So, budding entrepreneurs, who have innovative ideas and are looking for an experienced team to help and guide to try out their innovative ideas (processes and products) at the laboratory or workshop stage and beyond i.e. to carry forward the ideas from its mere conception to ‘know-how ‘and then to ‘do how’ stage, are invited to come forward to take advantage of the incubation initiatives of SRI-TBI. The centre will provide all the necessary assistance required by young entrepreneurs to manage, maintain and plan their business ventures specifically during the most vulnerable period of incubation by helping them to develop prototypes, providing them with necessary technical inputs and assistance in securing finances for translating their innovative ideas into business reality.
